Privacy
True North Defender is a one-person, independent project. I collect as little as possible, and this page explains the little that there is — in plain language, because that's how I'd want it explained to me.
What I collect, and why
- Basic visit statistics. I plan to use Cloudflare Web Analytics when this website launches, to understand page visits and performance. Cloudflare says this service does not use cookies, local storage or fingerprinting to identify individual visitors for analytics. This is separate from processing needed to deliver and protect the website. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
What I don't do
- I do not sell visitor data or run an advertising network. YouTube playback may include ads.
- Your theme preference and occupation shortlist are saved locally in your browser. Clear this site’s stored data to remove them.
- No signup forms or mailing-list registration.
Embedded videos
Video thumbnails load from YouTube's image service as they approach the visible part of the page. Your browser contacts Google before you play a video, sharing connection information such as your IP address.
Selecting Play loads YouTube's privacy-enhanced player at youtube-nocookie.com. This mode limits how embedded views are used for personalization; it does not mean no information is sent to Google. YouTube may show non-personalized ads. YouTube explains privacy-enhanced playback here.
Following a YouTube link opens YouTube itself. Google's privacy policy applies to its services.
